Smart Bassinet

Soothing just got smarter. The Newton Smart Bassinet combines responsive soothing with the breathability Newton is known for. When baby fusses, Cry Detection activates a gentle, back-and-forth motion that feels like swaying in your arms, with settings you can customize for your baby. Choose from three motion speeds, three vibration levels, and six soothing sounds with adjustable volume. Underneath it all is a breathe-thru, washable bassinet mattress with Newton's signature Wovenaire® core — the same technology in our award-winning crib mattresses.

FAQ's

Is the Smart Bassinet safe for overnight sleep, even with motion on?
Yes. The Smart Bassinet's sleep surface meets the federal safety standard for bassinets and cradles (16 CFR 1218), regardless of which motion setting is in use. The motion and sound features are designed to help soothe your baby to sleep, and turn off on a timer.

Where does the power cord go?
The Smart Bassinet plugs into a standard wall outlet. The cord exits from the base of the connector leg so it stays clear of the sleep area.

How many motion speeds/levels are there, and how do I choose one?
The Smart Bassinet offers three motion speeds, three levels of vibration, plus sound with three level options. Starting from a gentle sway, you can slowly work in different speed level of motion, vibration and sound to find just the right fit for your baby's comfort.

Can I leave the motion running all night, or should I turn it off once baby's asleep?
Some parents keep gentle motion running through the night, while others prefer to use it to help baby settle and then let it shut off once they're calm. Finding the right timing for your baby is part of the process — and allowing the unit to shut off once baby is winding down and calm can also help them build the ability to self-soothe over time.

Is there a benefit to no app connectivity?
Yes. Because the Smart Bassinet doesn't rely on Wi-Fi or an app, there's no connectivity to set up, subscription to manage in order to unlock features, no account or network dependency, and one less wireless connection point to worry about from a data security standpoint. Settings are controlled right on the unit, so you can adjust motion, vibration, or sound with a quick tap or press — no fumbling through your phone in the middle of the night.

What's the difference between this and your non-motion bassinet?
The Smart Bassinet adds gentle motion, sound, vibration to help soothe your baby to sleep, while our standard bassinet offers the same safe, firm sleep surface without the motorized features. Both meet the same bassinet safety standards — the Smart Bassinet is for parents who want extra soothing tools built in.

Is the mattress/sleep surface the same as your standard bassinet?
Yes. The Smart Bassinet uses the same Newton Wovenaire® core sleep surface as our standard bassinet — the motion and smart features don't change the mattress or sleep surface itself, only how the bassinet moves. Sleep surface size is different, however, so only accessories like sheets and extra covers for the Smart Bassinet are compatible.
